Our first contract was a 10 kW radar transmitter. Since then Delta-Sigma amplifiers have flown over Antarctic ice, sat on remote profiler sites, gone to sea, and run 24 hours a day on a foreign air-defense program since 1996. The organizations below did not buy once. They designed DSI in and kept it there, program after program. The case studies that follow show why.

Selected case studies

Solving hard problems, across very different missions.

Ice-penetrating radar over Antarctica, a foreign air-defense program running around the clock since 1996, wind profiling for NASA, and amplification supporting Artemis. These are the programs DSI is cleared to discuss. Each ran from requirement through qualification to fielded hardware, and each is still in service. The commercial pattern is consistent: a design-in that holds for the life of the program.

RIGEL: thirty years, 24 hours a day, still on the air

A modular amplifier system delivered for the Peace-Link air-defense program with the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense. It has been operational around the clock since 1996. The prime contractor's people joked that they could not make money on spares, because the customer did not think he needed any.

Seeing 3 km down through the ice sheet

SAR sensing from aircraft flying 1,500 ft above the ice, resolving nearly 10,000 ft below it. The processing found a lake well beneath the Antarctic ice sheet that nobody knew was there. Cold, remote, power-constrained, and no chance of a service call, which is the environment our efficiency and reliability numbers were built for.

The only wind profiler system of its kind in the world

NASA selected Delta-Sigma for a wind profiler that has no equivalent anywhere else. Related work includes the SATURN amplifier family built for the JPL/NASA program and the BELLEROPHON sub-assembly for AirMOSS. We continue to support profiler infrastructure in the field, including installations outside the United States.

More power than the best competitor, in less rack

The THEIA family delivers 1.5× to 2.5× the output of the best-in-class competitor models in 20–50% less rack space: 1 kW, 2 kW and 2.5 kW all in 4U where competing chassis need 5U to 8U for less.

16 kW moved from 84U to 13U with no loss of output

We originally delivered this amplifier at 84U. The refactor cuts the footprint 85% at the same output. The best competing approach still needs two 8 kW amplifiers and 42U. Alternatively, keep the original 84U bay and put roughly 100 kW in it.

PEGASUS on remote profiler sites

The PEGASUS family (2 kW and 4 kW pulse at 449 MHz, 140–150 MHz and 400–460 MHz) is the backbone of profiler and sounder installations that sit unattended for years. Zero droop, fast rise times, non-existent ringing, and a highly linear response tailored for pulse radar waveforms of varying duty cycle.

Multi-channel marine communications and airborne stores

MARISTAR-A8H puts 8 kW of multi-channel marine communications into 22U. ORION50 is a DICASS transmitter logic and control unit in an ARINC form factor. Both are examples of the same amplifier technology adapted to a very specific platform envelope and a very specific qualification path.

Research groups come to us when the instrument they want to build does not have an amplifier behind it yet. That work feeds back: the CENTURION 16 kW systems, the PROTOPHOS proton-debuncher sub-system and the KHIONE 4-channel polarimetric radar transmitter all started as somebody's requirement nobody else would quote.

Fixed sites and mobile platforms, crewed and unmanned, from polar research stations to naval fleets to orbital payloads. Most of them sit behind program restrictions and cannot be listed. If your requirement reads as unprecedented, there is a strong chance something close to it already shipped, and is still running.

A very low return rate sustained over three decades, in and out of warranty. That is a manufacturing and quality story, not a marketing one, and it is the single thing that has kept this customer list growing since 1995.

Co-sited operations mean more emitters coupling RF between closely spaced antennas. Design integrity keeps that from contaminating anyone.

Which matters most exactly where service is hardest: mobile platforms, remote sites, and anywhere battery drain or power distribution is the real constraint.

A large library of modules and configurations adapts to multiple program requirements. Low risk on adaptation, and volume drives the cost down.
