FAQ

How to buy an amplifier from us.

The rest of the site covers what the hardware does. This page covers how the commercial side works. Quoting, schedule, qualification, documentation, and the one boundary DSI does not cross.

Can DSI cover my band and power?

Catalog coverage runs 500 kHz to 6 GHz and 1 W to 25 kW, with five-plus octaves of bandwidth in a single amplifier. The coverage chart on the Platforms page plots every amplifier family against the frequency it covers and its rated output. If your requirement falls between families, the same technology base adapts to it.

What does DSI need in order to quote?

Four things. The target platform, the environmental profile, the performance requirements and the program milestones. Band, power, duty cycle, the envelope it has to fit and the environment it has to survive are enough to start. Engineering responds with a recommended engagement level, a technical approach and a rough schedule.

What is the lead time on a catalog part compared with an adaptation?

Every catalog part is a commercial-off-the-shelf item in active production, so a stock configuration is the fastest path. Adaptation runs at three levels: a drop-in variant that changes an existing part number mechanically or environmentally, a tailored configuration that combines existing modules, and an engineered solution built to your drawings. Schedule is quoted per part and program.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

DSI builds single units for development and qualification as well as production runs. The 477-part catalog exists because the same modules recur across programs, which is what keeps low quantities economic. Quantity, configuration and schedule are quoted together.

Can DSI qualify to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461?

Yes. Environmental hardening covers MIL-STD-810 shock and vibration profiles, MIL-STD-461 EMI and EMC, IP-rated enclosures, salt-fog and humidity tolerance, and temperature-range extension. DSI runs the campaign and supplies test plans, FAT and SAT procedures, first-article inspection reports and traceability documentation for program acceptance.

Does DSI integrate the amplifier, or just ship the box?

Both, up to the boundary of the amplifier and its thermal solution. Field service and integration support travel to the site internationally, and emergency response is part of the arrangement rather than an upsell. DSI does not build the end system around the amplifier, and that boundary is deliberate.

Can a contract manufacturer build from a DSI Technical Data Package?

Yes. Technical Data Packages document every component, amplifier and system to the level where it can be rebuilt from the package alone, by DSI or by a contract manufacturer. That answers second-source and surge questions before they turn into obsolescence questions.

Can DSI supply international programs?

Yes, and it has for three decades. Delivered organizations include Thales, Israel Aerospace Industries, the British Antarctic Survey, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense and AUKUS-partner programs. DSI products are dual use. Field service and integration support travel to the site, wherever the site is.

Does DSI hold small business or nontraditional defense contractor status?

Both. DSI qualifies as a small business and as a nontraditional defense contractor, is registered for U.S. Government contracting, and holds CAGE code 02XJ0. The quality system is ISO 9000 compliant with ANSI/IPC-A-610 implemented.

Will DSI ever compete with me for the program?

No. DSI builds amplifiers and thermal management and nothing else. It bids no system prime contracts, so a prime that designs DSI in never finds DSI across the table on the same pursuit. That boundary is why the catalog is a supply base rather than a competitor's parts bin.

How can we help?

477 active components, three decades of fielded hardware, and amplification and thermal engineering that turns a hard requirement into capability nobody else can field. Bring us the problem the current chain cannot solve. Most of the time the answer is already on the shelf.
